Last night was my 2nd night of working with the highschool youth group and I am SOOO enjoying it! The kids seem like a really great group of kids so far. Last night was "Family Game Night". I love playing games so it was right up my alley. To start off the night, a few of the girls and I enjoyed a round of Twister... I'm not as flexible as I used to be!! Then off to another game that was more my speed - Jenga. It was a good time and also a time to get to know some of the kids a little bit better. I am so excited to have this chance to work with these kids! It is exciting and nervewracking fo me all at the same time. I so badly want to do a good job for these kids. I am hoping and praying that they will open up and trust and that with time real relationships will be formed. Highschool can be fun and stressful and busy and hard all at the same time. And my hope is that God can use me to serve these kids, to guide them to Him for everything. That He is always there and that He cares if the are having a rough day, that He is there when they reach out to that lonely student in the hallway. That He is there for them if they are that lonely student in the hallway. That He is there when they had a fantastic day in basketball and He smiles when they choose to give Him the glory for that talent that he has given them. I am reminded of a verse when I think of these kids: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13
