I'm Ready for School!

This morning before school after all the backpacks were packed and ready for the kids I walked in the living room to find this: Baby "Z" thought she was going to school with the big guys! She was so proud prancing around the house like a big girl; the smiles ended though when I had to take the backpack off of her and give it back to Rosie!

A Sad Day

This week we had to say goodbye to Bear. He has been in our family for 13 years. He was a wonderful dog. He loved the kids and the kids loved him. He handled the little ones well when they started crawling and pulling on his fur when they were babies. He rode on the fishing boat on vacations. He would fly down the deck steps and run across the backyard to catch the birds flying overhead. He loved going for walks when he was younger. This morning Zaria was looking out the slider calling "Bear, Bear" and going to the door handle for me to come open it up and let him in. We will miss him.

No Deer Yet....

The other night, Jay shot a doe with his bow. It was deflected by a little twig and didn't hit the deer where it was supposed to. He thinks it may have been a gut shot. Anyway, the arrow was covered in blood up to the feathers. They tracked it for 5-6 hours and by then it was midnight and the little boys were really getting cold and tired so they had to call it a night. Unfortunately, the next morning was opening for gun season so they couldn't go and track more that morning because the deer was on someone else's property and they weren't gonna go and make a huge ruckus and ruin someone's hunt. So Jay is bummed for himself and bummed for the doe, that's not how you want a hunt to end. Maybe he'll get one with a gun we'll have to wait and see.

Not Much of An Update

Sorry there hasn't been more blog posting as of late. I barely have been checking emails each day. I don't know why, but my days are really just getting away from me lately. I am just finding out what it is like for a lot of women come fall.... and deer hunting. I am not used to having Jay gone at night all the time.

Jason has been bow hunting with Adam and they have been out every night that they can. I don't have the full story yet, but as a teaser I will let you know that my husband's new motto for bow hunting has become "better late than never." Stay tuned for an update and the full story tomorrow.........
