And Then There Were Ten

 Dills chick
New light brahma chick - named Cowie by Stella
Back of Dill's chick - looks like a chipmunk

OK so maybe I have a little problem...As you know, we decided to get chickens this year.  Well, we started with 1 chick for each kid. Six chicks, no problem.  Then I decided I wanted one too. Jay said, "Sure, what's one more?"  So I headed back to the farm store and picked out my chick.  I am driving home telling Jay that I got my chick and he says, "Cool, did you get me one too?" Well no I didn't.  So, back to the farm store to get him a chick.  So we are at eight.  Cool that should be a great amount of eggs for our family.  Then......I did some research because Dill's chick looks quite different than the other chicks.  Turns out, Dill's "she" is likely a "he".  We aren't gonna keep any roosters, so Dill doesn't want to be the only one without a chick.....back to the farm store.  They had 1 day old chicks yesterday.  SO CUTE!!!!! Dill chose an araucana baby. She is housed alone because she can't be mixed with the "bigs" yet.  Well, she was chirping and  chirping and chirping.  She was lonely in there all alone......back to the farm store.  We got her a buddy.  She is a light brahma.  So now we have 10! Good thing we built a LARGE coop!

Chickens

Dillon and Ruby got buff orpinton hens - above
Rosie, Naomi and Zaria got Barred Rock hens -above
Adam, Jason and I got Silverlace Wyandotte chicks - above

When we moved to the country, one of the things we told the kids we wanted to do was get some farm animals.  We decided to start with chickens. We headed out to the the local farm store and each of the kids got to pick out their own chicken.  They are so excited and have been holding them and watching them all afternoon! Let's hope their enthusiasm holds when they have to clean out their coop and collect eggs and feed and water them!!!

New House Renovations - Kitchen/Dining/Foyer

The next area the we worked on was the kitchen/dining/foyer area.  We pulled up all the old flooring and put in new laminate and painted the kitchen area and foyer.

New House Renovations - Girls' Bedrooms

The first area that we started working on in our new home was the girls' bedrooms.  They needed new carpet, paint and the floor needed some screwing down to prevent creaking.  The girls got to pick out the colors that they wanted their rooms to be. I think they turned out pretty cute!

Merry Christmas!!

WOW! I cannot believe I haven't posted in 4 months!!!  Alot has happened in those months!!! It has been probably one of the biggest changes our family has had!!  WE MOVED!!! We have prayed for years and years for the Lord to bless us with a country home, and he chose to bless us with everything in a country home that we have asked for and much more!

This post is a testimony to the awesome workings of our Father.  It was a beautiful July morning, July 14 to be exact.  I will back up a little here.  Jason and I had been praying literally for years for our perfect country home.  We felt that our Father was urging us to prepare our home this year to sell.  We continued to pray and keep our eyes open for a home.  On Friday, July 13, Joel and Kori came over and mentioned an Estate Sale where the home was just put up for sale by the owner.  On Saturday morning, I woke up Jason and felt an urgency to go over to that house and check out the sale and house.  When we pulled up to the house, we walked up and admired the pond and polebarn.  We went in and talked to a man inside and asked about the house.  It was actually below the price range that we were looking at.  It was on 4.3 acres and had a pond and pole barn!!!! He walked us through the house and we fell in love.  We knew it was "the house".   We went to the truck to decide what to do and per some good counsel, we went straight back in the house and made an offer.  Which was accepted by the trustee, Lynn.  Then she called the daughters in the house because it was their father that had passed away only months before.  The estate money was to go to them.  They were to have full say in the people who wanted to buy the house.  They listened to us as we told them a little bit about ourselves and then told us that WE were the people that they wanted to own this house.  We walked out the door completely amazed at how beautifully God had worked out the details for us.  We found out later that the family had received another offer for more money than we offered and with no contingincies (we had to sell our home). The people turned down that offer and many more after it, stating that they found the family for this home! Praise be to God! We then quickly finished getting our house ready to sell, we put the sign in the yard and went on vacation.  We were hoping to get some people to come through while we were on vacation, so the house would stay nice and neat for each showing.  We had a couple come in on the first day it was up for sale.  That night we didn't hear anything, and thought that they weren't interested.  The very next morning at 8:30 Steve called and said we have an above asking price offer!!!! Jason went in from vacation and signed papers that very night!!!! Praise be to God!
After we got back from vacation, things really flew into high gear.  Paperwork was being sent in and signed, final details were being addressed. Appraisals happened, and came through with no issues, by the hand of God!
After a few weeks, we got word that the people that were buying our house may have an issue with their buyer.  We were worried, to say the least! We put it in God's hands and within a couple of days, there was no issue!!!! Fortunately, it made the timing for our finishing paperwork even better though.  If there would have been no issue with the other people's paperwork, their stuff would have been finished and processed at least 2 weeks before us, hence we would have had to move out and live somewhere else till we closed on our new one!!! God is good! Now we closed on our Jordan Street home on Sept. 27, 2012 and are scheduled to close on our new COUNTRY home on October 1, 2012!!!

We did close on October 1!!! We moved into our brand new country home on October 6, 2012!!

All Praise and Glory to our Loving, Patient, Mighty God!!!!

Mini Bedroom Makeover

I have been wanting to get matching comforters for the girls bedroom ever since we finished it. I am a cheapskate so I have been holding out for a great deal since I had 3 beds to cover. Well the day came, this past Saturday we took a trip to Target to pick up 3 comforters for 14.99 a piece. Thats just 45 bucks for all 3 comforters!!! They had the exact ones that I wanted, so right when we got home I put all of the girls beds together, and it looks so cute. The best part was that this morning I looked up the Target ad online and found that the comforters were on sale!!!! Woohoo and Target honors their prices if you just take your receipt in, so in to Target we went and got another $9.51 back in my pocket, I just cannot believe I got 3 comforters for just $36.00 what a steal!!!

Finally Pictures of the Floor!

Jason and Dillon did all of the demo of the first linoleum floor that we had in which included pulling up the subfloor and ripping the old carpet and pad out!! They worked really well together and got it all out without a hitch. The new stuff took a whole Saturday to install and I absolutely love it!

I'msohappy!I'msohappy!I'msohappy!I'msohappy!

I got new wood laminate floor today!!!!!!! Now the average person would probably be pretty happy to get new flooring; but not me - I'M ECSTATIC!!!!!!!!! I told Jason when we were looking to buy a house 8 years ago, that I DEFINITELY needed hard floor in the kitchen and dining area of our new house. Well that is not what ended up in the house that we finally chose. So if you know I wanted hard floor when I had 2 kids, I really wanted it when we had 3 kids, then I really, really wanted it when we had 5 kids, then I really, really, really wanted it when we had 6 kids! So soon I will be enjoying my floor, after wrestling season is done and we have an open Saturday!!

Quick Update

I don't really have much going on right now, but I haven't posted in a while so I thought a quick update was in order... The kids are doing great in school, they all have no complaints, well maybe just Ruby, yesterday morning she woke up and crawled up on the couch next to me and says, "Mom I think I'm getting a little bit sick of school.....don't you know that it is everyday!" But she hasn't said anymore after that and she is super excited when she comes home from school with everything that she has done. Adam, Dill and Rosie are getting back into the routine and seem to be enjoying it. Naomi is enjoying being the only one home with mommy and is really enjoying going errand running with just me, I too am enjoying running around with only ONE kid, it is so EASY!!!!
Not much else to report, our basement leaked with the last heavy rain we had, so Jay has to figure out where it is leaking and fix it, in the meantime, the boys have to sleep in the basement living room while the carpet is pulled up in their room. It's like a slumber party, so they don't mind.
The kitty (Snowball, which Jason says is a very appropriate name, because though he doesn't look like a snowball, he kind of has the snowball effect going on for him, first we find him and feed him, then he heals up good and doesn't leave, then he has a home in the shed, and now he is working his way into our home) is doing really good and is wanting to come in and live with us, and he probably will sooner or later, he is such a good kitty we all enjoy him and his kitten antics.
That's all for now......

Dollar Stores - Gotta Love 'Em

I am so excited about this picture that I found at our local dollar store!!! Yes, you read right, the DOLLAR store!! It was on a special table that all the paintings were $3. I couldn't believe it, it matched our downstairs bathroom perfectly!! Love it when I can decorate for SO cheap.
