Learning to Read

I am so proud of Naomi!!!  Last week the teacher sent home a page of flashcards for the to start kids to start practicing.  Then when they have them learned the parents send them back and the student does them for the teacher and will get a new sheet or the same ones back with notes on the ones to practice a little bit more.  My other kids all had these same flash card in Kindergarten.  We generally practiced them for 4-5 days or so til each of the kids felt confident and then sent them back.  Naomi was so excited to get started on her pack of words she ripped them out of her backpack and was like, "Let me try, Let me try!" Not wanting curb her enthusiasm, I sat down to do the words, and figured she would maybe get a couple and we would work on the rest at homework time.  I have to tell ya, she is a whippersnapper!!!! She sat down next to me and I pointed to the really easy ones so she could have confidence and get a couple right, little did I know she was like "Mom, I think I can do the whole page."  Sure enough, she read every single word and got every single word right! We sent back the page the very next school day and she now has a new sheet to work on.
